S2E21, MORNING Pancake Breath

[INTRODUCTION]

Taes: Good morning. My name is Taes and I want to welcome you to today.

Can you wave your hand and say, “Good morning, day.”

Can you put your hands on your heart and say, “Good morning, heart.”

And I want to say good morning to you.

I just love getting to start today with you as we check in, as we wake up our bodies, and as we think about what is in store for us today.

Are you ready to start off our morning? Great!

[PANCAKE BREATH]

Taes: It's so good to see you. And it's so good to get to be here today with you and your big heart.

Today, we are going to do some more big heart breathing, and I have a very special Big Heart breath that I wanna teach you called “Pancake Breath”. And once we have done all of our pancake breathing, you will be ready to go. Maybe you'll eat some of your own pancakes, but whatever you do, you will start your day with this amazing tool that you can keep in your back pocket for any time that those big feelings come.

Can you jump up on your feet? Now, I have a very important question for you. Do you like pancakes? I know that I really like pancakes. What is your favorite kind of pancake? My favorite kind is the kind with bananas in it. So let me know. What's your favorite kind? Good one.

So, I want you to imagine that each of your hands has turned into a pancake. Okay?

I know it's a little bit silly. So you're going to take one pancake hand and put it down in front of you. We're gonna do the pancake breathing without the breathing first. Okay?

Put your one pancake hand down. And now put your other pancake hand down on top of it. Like you're stacking. And then bring your pancake hand out from the bottom. And put it on the top. And bring your other pancake can out from the bottom and put it on the top. And you're gonna keep going all the way up to the top of your head. So you can see that you are just stacking your pancakes all the way up to the top of your head. Good.

And once you have a great big, huge stack of your favorite pancakes, you're gonna go “Om nom nom nom nom” and wiggle your fingers right down. Okay?

Now, let's try it again, but this time as you stack your pancakes, you're going to be breathing in through your nose. And again, we wanna make sure that's a big, deep belly breath. Okay. Are you ready? Let's stack those pancakes. All the way up to the top of your head and let it out. “Nom nom nom nom nom nom.”

So you're gonna let the air out and you're gonna sound a little bit like a cookie monster, but you are actually a pancake monster this time. Okay.

Are you ready, pancake monsters? Let's try pancake breath again. Stand with your two feet strongly on the ground. Good. You're gonna take a big deep breath in and stack up your favorite pancakes in front of you. Ready?

Here we go. And stack. Breathe in, breathe in, breathe in, breathe in, breathe in to the top, let it out. You're going to go, “Nom nom nom nom nom nom.” And imagine that you're eating all of those delicious pancakes.

Now this is a very silly breath, isn't it? Here's the thing: I think that everything in life could and should have a little bit of silly in it.

You can use pancake breath anytime during the day, but it works especially well when you're starting to have those great big feelings and the big feelings are coming and they're taking over your body.

You're gonna wanna imagine that you've got two pancake hands and you're gonna wanna start stacking those pancakes. And then do the big pancake monster eating.

I wanna check in with you tonight and see how it all went. But I want you to take that pancake breath, take those two pancake hands with you all day today.

[CLOSING]

Taes: I'm so excited for you and for your day.

And I want to say thank you so much for starting today with me and for setting yourself up for a big heart kind of day.

I can't wait to see you tonight and hear about all of the things that you did.

Remember: there is nobody in the whole world with a heart, just like yours.

I love you. And I love your big heart so much.
