S1E03, MORNING Magic Word (R)
[INTRODUCTION]
Taes: Good morning. My name is Taes and I want to welcome you to today.
Can you wave your hand and say, “Good morning, day.”
Can you put your hands on your heart and say, “Good morning, heart.”
And I want to say good morning to you.
I just love getting to start today with you as we check in, as we wake up our bodies, and as we think about what is in store for us today.
Are you ready to start off our morning? Great!
So let's get started with our activity.
[MAGIC WORD]
Taes: We are doing a magic word day.
Well, you know what? Any day is actually a magic word day, but today as an extra special magic word day. So if you are ready for a magic word day, can you say, "Oh yeah"?
Okay, let's get our magic word on. Are you ready?
So first of all, can you close your eyes? Now open them. Now close them. Now open them. Close them. Oh, I was just doing that part for fun. Okay.
So once your eyes are closed, can you put your hands in your heart, feel it beating inside of your chest. Count to five. Ready? 1, 2, 3. 4, 5, good.
Now I want you to think of a word and it can be any word in the whole planet.
Any word at all. Just a word that makes you feel happy. It can be an animal, a color, a smell, a shape, a food. It can be anything at all.
Just think of a word that makes you happy and don't overthink it because there is no wrong way to do this. It is all perfect any word you come up with. Okay?
So I'm going to tell you my word. My word today is pickle.
So my words, pickle. What's your word?
Oh, that's a good word.
Now, can you say it as fast as you can? Are you ready? Say your magic word really, really, really fast.
Good. Now, what we are going to do with that magic word is you're going to take it and put it in your back pocket because that magic word is something that you can pull out anytime today when you're having a great big feeling. So here's how it works. You're walking throughout your day. Let me see you walk your feet. Yep. And suddenly something happens. And you're like, Hmm. I have some feelings about that.
You're going to remember that you have a magic word in your pocket and you're going to pull out that magic word, whatever it is, whether it's star or popcorn or pizza or sun. Whatever your magic word is, you're going to repeat it as fast as you can.
Okay? So you might say, “popcorn, popcorn, popcorn, popcorn, popcorn”, or you might say “blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue”.
Whatever your magic word is. And you will notice that in those big feeling moments, if you start repeating your magic word, you will actually start feeling better.
How does this work?
It's magic in itself, but actually your body responds to words. And if this is a word that really already makes your heart happy right now this morning, when you're in a great big feeling moment, it will still make your heart happy then. And it will start to bring you to a better place.
And once you're in a happier place, you're always able to go back in and look at those big feelings because we love our big feelings, but sometimes we just have to come up with ways to move through them so we can come on back and look at what's going on.
So one more time, can you tell me what is your magic word? On the count of 3. 1, 2, 3?
Oh, that's a good magic word.
Now can you say it 10 times? Fast. Ready?
Good work. Okay, so now take that magic word. Put it in your back pocket. Yeah, you got it.
[CLOSING]
Taes: I'm so excited for you and for your day.
And I want to say thank you so much for starting today with me and for setting yourself up for a big heart kind of day.
I can't wait to see you tonight and hear about all of the things that you did.
Remember: there is nobody in the whole world with a heart, just like yours.
I love you. And I love your big heart so much.
