S2E15, MORNING Family Tree

[INTRODUCTION]

Taes: Good morning. My name is Taes and I want to welcome you to today.

Can you wave your hand and say, “Good morning, day.”

Can you put your hands on your heart and say, “Good morning, heart.”

And I want to say good morning to you.

I just love getting to start today with you as we check in, as we wake up our bodies, and as we think about what is in store for us today.

Are you ready to start off our morning? Great!

[FAMILY TREE]

Taes: Today, we are going to do a heart hug activity all about your family. We are going to be creating your family tree. We're going to talk about it and then we'll make it with our bodies. And then you will be all ready to head out into your day.

If you are ready to do our family tree, heart hug, can you say, “Oh, yes”? If you're really ready to do our family tree heart hug, can you jump up on your feet?

Good. Now, can you put your hands on your heart and close your eyes and just feel your heart beating for a minute?

And as you listen to your heartbeat, I want you to think about who lives in your family. And everybody's family looks different. And I wanna know about your family. Who do you live with inside of your house? Can you open up your eyes and tell me?

Thank you so much for sharing. So now I wanna know about some of your family that doesn't live in your house. Do you have family, other places?

Thank you so much for sharing. And do you have people who maybe aren't directly related to you, but they're like family? So many of our friends can be family too. So who are some friends of yours that feel like your family?

And when you think about your family, how does your heart feel?

Now, can you imagine that you are reaching up high into the sky, like a tree? Can you sway back and forth? And here you are. And on the branches of your family tree are the people that you live with. There's the people in your extended family. There's probably people that you haven't even met yet. And then there's all of those friends that are just like family.

Can you imagine that all of those people are standing on your family tree and stretch your arms up tall. Those are the branches. And sway back and forth.

And can you repeat after me?

“There's no other place I'd rather be.”

Than sitting on the branches of my family tree.”

Let's put it all together. Ready? “There's no other place. I'd rather be than sitting on the branches of my family tree.”

Now stretch those branches up. Take a big deep breath in. Let it out and gather all of those family members and put them inside of your heart and give your heart a little rub.

And can you just say, “I love you”. It's just so special to have family that we love, and that loves us.

Tonight we're going to be saying goodnight to all of the people in our family tree, but for now, I hope you go out there into your day and you meet lots of new friends who are like family. And most of all, that you are your own family.

Put your hands in your heart. Take a big deep breath in, let it out. Good.

[CLOSING]

Taes: I'm so excited for you and for your day.

And I want to say thank you so much for starting today with me and for setting yourself up for a big heart kind of day.

I can't wait to see you tonight and hear about all of the things that you did.

Remember: there is nobody in the whole world with a heart, just like yours.

I love you. And I love your big heart so much.
